General practices are currently assessed for accreditation against the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standards for General Practice (5th edition). The RACGP Standards provide a template for quality care and risk management, and a framework for the continuing development within your practice.
Adherence to the standards promotes a culture of patient safety and high quality clinical care resulting in improved patient outcomes. The focus on quality improvement activities encourages your practice to identify opportunities that result in improved risk management and practice efficiency.
Accreditation provides your practice with increased recognition from insurance providers as well as access to financial incentives (Practice Incentives Program and Practiced Nurse Incentive Program). COORDINARE can assist by directing you to information and resources on accreditation standards, and advising you how to access education on accreditation related topics.
