Increase in syphilis among women and infants
From January 2018 to August 2019, there were two confirmed cases of congenital syphilis in non-Indigenous infants in NSW. In both cases, the first antenatal visit occurred late in pregnancy and treatment was delayed.

Gidget Foundation Australia offers counselling for new and expecting parents who are experiencing perinatal depression and/or anxiety and are unable to have a face-to-face consultation. Patients need a referral and a mental health care plan from their GP to use the service.
