GPLO ongoing funding confirmed
COORDINARE and Southern NSW Local Health District (LHD) are pleased to announce a funding extension for the four Southern NSW GPLO roles out to 2021.
The ongoing funding commitment by both organisations has been based on the positive impact the GPLOs have made over the past year.
This announcement is a timely one, after a recent survey seeking GP feedback on the GPLOs found that over 85% of GPs thought the roles were effective at improving how GPs and local hospitals work together to improve patient care.
What is the aim of the GPLOs?
The aim of the GPLOs is to provide opportunities for local GPs to improve the coordination and continuity of care for local patients.
The co-funded positions work across the four regional clusters:
- Bega Valley – Dr Duncan MacKinnon
- Monaro – Dr Melanie Dorrington
- Northern – Dr Roslyn Davis
- Eurobodalla (currently vacant).
Overall, these roles aim to have a positive impact on the primary and secondary health system, improving health outcomes for individuals and broader communities in South Eastern NSW.
