GPs who treat children who have been discharged from Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick or The Children’s Hospital in Westmead will now receive discharge summaries via electronic messaging brokers.

GPs who treat children who have been discharged from Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick or The Children’s Hospital in Westmead will now receive discharge summaries via electronic messaging brokers.

Discharge summaries from SCHN will be sent electronically to GPs, HealtheNet and the My Health Record via electronic messaging brokers Argus, Healthlink and Medical Objects. SCH will no longer auto-fax discharge summaries to GPs.

The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN) is undertaking an Integration Program that brings together the electronic medical records (eMRs) from Sydney Children’s Hospital and The Children’s Hospital. The outcome of the program will be a single digital paediatric eMR system.

GP practices can receive and/or view discharge summaries electronically by utilising the above brokers or by accessing a patient’s My Health Record, if they have one.

If you have any questions about this change, please contact the Integration Program team at SCHN-IntegrationProgram@health.nsw.gov.au.
