COORDINARE, as the South Eastern NSW Primary Health Network [PHN] has an established Community Advisory Committee. The Committee provides input and advice that aims to ensure PHN planning, service development and performance aligns with consumer and community needs.
The (skills based) Committee contributes directly to COORDINARE's understanding of local health needs and priorities in South Eastern NSW and advises on specific strategies for engaging with regional communities.

Ms Leanne Wells is the Chief Executive Officer of the Consumers Health Forum of Australia. She is a health service executive with over 25 years’ experience.
Ms Wells has held executive positions within government and in national and state non-government organisations, most recently as CEO of a state-based primary care organisation. Throughout her career, she has worked in the health and social care sectors.
Ms Wells is the Chair of the COORDINARE Community Advisory Committee, as well as a Board Director for COORDINARE, the Ozhelp Foundation, PainAustralia and a member of the clinical governance committee of a major regional aged care provider.
Ms Wells has tertiary qualifications in communications and business. She is a member of both the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Institute of Management.
Amy has a background in health services planning and clinical redesign and has been the Director of Planning, Information and Performance with the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District for two years.
Holding a master’s degree in public health and a diploma in change management, Amy is driven by a commitment to improving health outcomes in the Illawarra Shoalhaven community and her passion for bringing people together to work towards common goals.
Ann holds a master’s degree in Nursing, a graduate certificate in Diabetes Education and is a Master Health and Life Coach/ Consultant.
She has over 40 years’ experience working at the CEO, deputy CEO and senior executive level in both the health and business arenas in organisations encompassing public, private, rural and remote health, not for profit and NGOs.
Ann was an elected representative of the Bega Valley Shire Council for 4 years and has been a member of over 30 local and regional committees, community organisations and boards, often as chair.
She continues to advocate and champion for better health outcomes for individuals and communities at local, regional, state and national levels.
Carrie is a lived experience advocate for mental health and suicide prevention systems change.
The current focus of her advocacy work is supporting the active and meaningful inclusion of people with lived experience in the co-design of new health and social services, and the development of the peer workforce to deliver these services.
Carrie is an Executive Member of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Suicide Prevention Collaborative and is also a Lived Experience Member of the Black Dog Institute's LifeSpan Implementation Committee and a Lived Experience member of the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District's Towards Zero Suicides Steering Group.
Carrie is a retired clinician and health executive with a strong knowledge of the health industry – locally and internationally.
She has twenty years of experience in executive management roles with healthcare providers in the US; and fifteen years of consulting experience in the US, UK, and Australia providing strategic, operational and technical advice to government and industry on a range of health system topics.
Since retiring to the NSW South Coast, Carrie has served on the Local Health District Board and as a teacher and coordinator in the Primary Ethics program in her local primary school.
Chris is the Chief Executive Officer and Company Secretary of Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra Ltd (mcci.org.au).
Building on prior executive roles in non-profit community housing, family services and disability in the Illawarra & South West Sydney, and following senior roles in the NSW Public Service, Chris has led the MCCI team through a period of growth and change since mid-2016. He is also the Chairperson and non-executive director of Family Services Australia.
Chris has a strong passion for social equity, supporting the non-profit sector to rise to the challenges of meeting the needs of vulnerable communities.
A Psychology (Honours) graduate with a passion for research and statistics Georgia is an authentic youth mental health champion with a deep understanding of the kinds of barriers and issues faced by young people in accessing mental health services.
Her compassionate, innovative and creative approach to problem-solving enables her to bridge connections and build opportunities.
She has undertaken training with Minus18 to develop her LGBTQIA+ allyship and volunteered her time to facilitate Help Out A Mate mental health literacy workshops and Save A Mate alcohol and drug harm minimisation workshops, alongside her ongoing involvement in headspace Wollongong's Youth Reference Group.
Georgia has held positions as a Youth Development Coach at ACSO coaching young people into employment and/or studies and worked as an in2uni Mentor and Student Service Officer at UOW. She is a previous member of the Student Representative Safe and Respectful Advisories Committee Working Party (UOW) and currently serves on the Grand Pacific Health Consumer and Carer Advisory Panel (CCAP).
Jess holds degrees in Nursing and Health Promotion from the University of Wollongong and is an experienced Health Promotion Practitioner, Registered Nurse, Disability, Sibling and Health Consumer Advocate.
She has lived experience of injury, disability and mental illness and has volunteered and worked with many organisations supporting those with a disability such as the Disability Trust, Cerebral Palsy Alliance, Variety the Children’s Charity and Greenacres Disability Services.
She is also very active in the Illawarra business community and youth business community having held Junior Chamber Board positions and been involved in the Illawarra Connection, Illawarra Business Chamber and Illawarra Women in Business.
Jess is motivated by a love of learning and the desire to fuse creativity with health and she enjoys sharing her insights on the work of the Primary Health Network through her participation in the Community Advisory Committee.
As CEO of Community Industry Group, Nicky Sloan leads this regional peak body to support and advocate for the community services industry across South East NSW.
Nicky is proud to lead a team which is committed to promoting social justice and reducing disadvantage by lobbying and advocating for the needs of the community services industry, and vulnerable communities.
She has extensive experience in governance and strategy, research and policy development, partnerships, advocacy and collaboration and currently represents the community services industry on several advisory panels, reference groups, boards and consultative bodies.
Nicky’s work history includes local government, marketing, banking and finance and owning and running small businesses.
She holds a degree in Community and Environment, and in Marketing from the University of Wollongong, with a Diploma in Project Management from the University of New England.
Renata Sheehan is the Community Engagement Manager for the Southern NSW Local Health District.
The key focus of Renata’s role is to facilitate avenues for consumer and community consumer participation in health services as well as oversee volunteer programs for local health service in regional and rural communities of the South East.
She coordinates the district’s network of eleven community consultation committees which act as a conduit between the community and health services in their local area, consulting at both strategic and local levels.
Renata engages in consultation with patient’s families and carers to improve models of care across the district as well as community organisations, NGO’s and other agencies to ensure a holistic approach to engagement and direction of health in South Eastern NSW.
Deeply committed to social justice, Sandra McCarthy has spent her career creating meaningful connections and building and sharing knowledge to enhance human health, both locally and globally.
Sandra served as Mayor of Kiama Municipal Council (KMC) from 2000-2012. As Kiama’s longest-serving Mayor she was given the honorary title of Emeritus Mayor in 2012 in recognition of her enormous contribution and impact.
Combining vast expertise in community planning, governance and partnership-building, she leveraged her position to drive substantial improvements in community health planning.
She was policy leader and principal contributor to the innovative KMC Health Plan (2000-2017), a long-term collaborative framework for developing a healthy, sustainable and vibrant community earning World Health Organization (WHO) recognition.
Sandra was appointed a Fellow of the University of Wollongong in 2017 and was honoured in 2018 with an OAM for her service to local government, and to the Kiama community.
Stephanie is the Community Lead for Cancer Council Southern NSW. She leads a team of specialists in the delivery of programs across Southern NSW which help to ease the burden of cancer on patients and their families, as well as prevention campaigns to help reduce the risk of cancer on future generations.
Stephanie has been working in the not-for-profit space for 14 years, with her experience spanning across community engagement, marketing and communications as well as program development and delivery.
She has also led numerous teams in Australia and internationally including the global development agency – Save the Children UK – and most recently Fight for Peace, an organisation based in the most dangerous and disadvantaged community in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Her strong understanding of community engagement enables her and her teams to drive change in communities and provide meaningful support to those who need it most.
