Infection control

Infection prevention and control plays an important role in delivering safe health services. The RACGP Infection Prevention and Control Standards 5th Edition 2014 focus on practice-based risk assessment and staff education.

These guidelines are mandatory for accreditation and are aligned with the RACGP Standards for General Practices 4th edition criterion 5.3.3 Healthcare Associated Infections.

You can find resources such as fact sheets and posters on the Hand Hygiene Australia website. The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Healthcare has information, signs, online learning modules, toolkit and guidebook for primary care settings.

Information, fact sheets and other resources for health professionals, including pandemic preparedness, cough etiquette poster and hand washing poster can be found at the NSW Health website. Your accreditation provider, AGPAL or GPA, may also have additional resources available.
