  • assists in identifying gaps, barriers, strengths, and opportunities for improvement in the delivery of primary health care to local Aboriginal communities;
  • provides advice and reviews relevant policy documents with respect to cultural safety;
  • advises COORDINARE on strategies to assist the uptake and adoption of best-practice models of care to provide Aboriginal communities with better access and engagement with primary health services.

What is the commitment?

The councils meet quarterly either online or in-person. Membership is by expression of interest, and tenure is three years with an option to extend. The current Aboriginal Health Council Terms of Reference are available here.
