Intentional Peer Support training

As the peer workforce across South Eastern NSW grows in size, so too does its maturity.

2025 marks a major investment in the development of that workforce, with 20 Peer Workers and 14 managers from 11 different mental health services participating in Intentional Peer Support (IPS) training, an internationally recognised program that goes beyond skill-building to nurture the heart of peer work itself.

December Letters

In the spirit of connection and care, our Peers came together to create a simple yet profoundly meaningful gesture of care. Our Peers wrote Christmas cards by hand for individuals spending the holidays in inpatient wards.

This heartfelt initiative seeks to bring compassion, solidarity, and a sense of human connection into institutional settings, reminding people they are not alone during what can be a particularly challenging time.

Youth Reference group camp

In April 2025, members of the South Eastern NSW Peer Workforce were invited to speak at the annual headspace Youth Reference Group camp, an event attended by over 80 young people from headspace services across the region.

I don't know if you've ever had the privilege to sit in a room full of Peer Workers?

But there is no experience quite like it.

There is a power in us all coming together which helps us to never lose sight of “our why". We are constantly reminded why we come together, why we are in these roles in the first place
and that we contribute to something bigger.

Regional Peer Network - Nan Tien temple

At the Illawarra Shoalhaven Peer Network meeting in August 2025, Peer Workers gathered in the peaceful surrounds of the Nan Tien Temple for a session focused on reflection, restoration, and skill-sharing. 

In a sector where Peer Workers are often asked to give, to hold space, to offer insight, to support others, this meeting offered something different: the chance to simply receive.
