Prof Andrew Bonney

Board Member, University of Wollongong

Professor Andrew Bonney is a general practitioner and Roberta Williams Chair of General Practice in the Graduate School of Medicine (GSM), University of Wollongong (UOW).

From 1992-2021 he was a practice principal in general practice on the NSW south coast to a rural town of 3000 (Culburra Beach) and Aboriginal community (Jerrinja). From November 2021 until November 2023, he worked part-time in in general practice in Nowra.

Andrew has been actively involved in under-graduate and post-graduate medical education since 1997. Appointed in 2011, he was the foundation Professor of General Practice at UOW and has been integral to general practice curriculum development and assessment within the GSM.

Andrew’s program of research focusses on implementation science applied to quality use of medicines and patient centred models of primary care, and the geographic distribution of health risk factors and health workforce in regional and rural Australia.
