Paul Townsley
Paul Townsley is an Australian Association of Social Workers-accredited Social Worker and experienced clinical and operations leader with extensive senior management experience across mental health, trauma-informed practice, statutory services, community programs, wellbeing, and complex family support.
He currently works as Clinical and Operations Manager for the Queanbeyan Mental Health Hub at Flourish Australia, where he leads multidisciplinary teams delivering accessible, trauma-informed mental health support for people experiencing moderate to severe mental health presentations. Paul has integrated a Peer led lived experience team within a Clinical space to provide a safe entry for individuals experiencing a range of wellbeing challenges.
His professional background is underpinned by qualifications in psychology, social work, childcare, complex trauma treatment, clinical supervision, and training and assessment. Paul is also a Mental Health First Aid Accredited Instructor, with experience delivering training in suicide prevention, non-suicidal self-injury, gambling harm, psychosocial hazards, and trauma-informed practice.
Paul joins the podcast as a peer ally, sharing his experiences of working alongside and learning from peer workers in multidisciplinary teams. Paul champions the value and contribution of peer work to services and recovery practices and shares his insights on the podcast about collaborative peer-clinician relationships.
