Mobile BreastScreen Van is Visiting the Shoalhaven
3 July 2025
Practices across the Shoalhaven region are encouraged to help raise awareness and support women aged 50 to 74 to book a free, life-saving mammogram when the BreastScreen NSW mobile van visits local towns this year.
Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers among Australian women, and early detection offers the best chance of successful treatment and survival. A mammogram can detect breast cancer long before symptoms appear, which often means less invasive treatment and better outcomes. That’s why BreastScreen NSW recommends women aged 50 to 74 have a free mammogram every two years — it’s quick, safe, and could save a life.
The mobile van will visit the following locations across the Shoalhaven:
-
Sussex Inlet Bowling Club — 14–18 July
-
Huskisson Sports — 22 July–8 August
-
Nowra Showground — 11–15 August
-
Bomaderry (Shoalhaven Indoor Sports Centre) — 25 August–12 September
-
Berry Showground — 15–26 September
Appointments take just 20 minutes and are provided at no cost. No referral is needed — women aged 40 and over can simply book directly with BreastScreen NSW.
We encourage practices to display posters in waiting rooms, share this information in newsletters or on social media, and speak with eligible patients to remind them of this important screening opportunity.
You can find a brochure explaining how BreastScreen NSW works with GPs here or a guide for GPs here. Also find a poster to print and share here. Follow BreastScreen NSW on Facebook for updates.
To make an appointment, women can visit www.breastscreen.nsw.gov.au or call 13 20 50.
