Bega Medicare Urgent Care Clinic to continue serving the community at relocated premises
29 July 2026
Bega Valley residents and visitors will have better access to urgent care with the newly relocated Bega Medicare Urgent Care Clinic opening at their new premises today.
The Bega Medicare UCC officially is now located at Sapphire Marketplace, 106 Auckland Street, Bega.
“Congratulations to the Bega Medicare Urgent Care Clinic who have already helped so many people to receive urgent treatment from highly qualified doctors and nurses,” Minister McBain said.
“This clinic welcomes walk-ins and is completely bulk-billed, meaning that people needing urgent but non-life-threatening care can get the treatment they need, when they need it, and not have to worry about out-of-pocket costs.”
Since opening at its previous location on 31 January the Bega Medicare UCC has provided more than 5000 episodes of patient care. Of all patients who have attended Bega Medicare UCC, 38 per cent would have used a hospital emergency department if the Medicare UCC didn't exist.
COORDINARE - South Eastern NSW PHN’s CEO Prudence Buist said the Bega Medicare UCC had reduced the number of non-emergency presentations to South East Regional Hospital's emergency department and helped people access timely care locally.
"The latest data demonstrates people are using urgent care clinics when they need care for urgent, but not life-threatening, illnesses, particularly when that care cannot wait for a regular GP appointment. This includes urgent treatments such as minor burns, cuts or infections, insect bites, respiratory illnesses, urinary tract infections or minor fractures,” Ms Buist said.
“From later in August the Bega Medicare UCC will also be extending its opening hours to 14 hours a day (8am to 10pm), seven days a week, including public holidays.
“Your local GP should continue to be your first point of contact, but Medicare Urgent Care Clinics are a great back up should you need urgent care that doesn’t require a trip to the emergency department.”
Bega Medicare UCC is operated by ForHealth in partnership with Bega Valley Medical Practice and is commissioned by COORDINARE – South Eastern NSW PHN on behalf of the Australian Government.
There are 137 Medicare UCCs are in operation across Australia, which have already seen more than 3.4 million presentations since the first sites opened in June 2023. This includes Medicare UCCs currently operating in Batemans Bay, Queanbeyan, Nowra, Shellharbour, Dapto and Wollongong.
