Supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in accessing aged care

12 March 2020

All Australians have the right to access health care that meets their cultural and linguistic needs, but for many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, there are challenges in accessing culturally safe aged care. This is especially true for those living in remote and very remote areas.

To help educate providers about cultural safety, End of Life Directions for Aged Care (ELDAC) has developed some guidelines for fostering culturally safe aged care environments for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. You can read the guidelines here.
