Next Steps Universal Aftercare

Next Steps is a free, voluntary, peer-led aftercare program that supports people who have experienced a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis.

The program is available to people aged 16 years and over. Young people aged 14–15 years may also be eligible with informed consent and appropriate support arrangements in place.

Delivered by peer workers with lived experience, Next Steps provides compassionate, practical support to help people stay safe, navigate immediate challenges, strengthen their wellbeing, and work towards the life they want to build.

Next Steps hubs are located in:

  • Wollongong
  • Moruya
  • Bega

Who can access this service

The program is available to people aged 16 years and over who have experienced a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis. Young people aged 14 -15 may be considered with informed consent and appropriate supports.

 

There are two ways to access Next Steps support.

  • You can be referred by a health or community professional, who will complete a referral form with you. Your consent is required before support can be provided. Referrers may use form, link here: GPH Registration Form.
  • Alternatively, you can refer yourself by completing the GPH Self-Referral Form, and a member of the Next Steps team will contact you to discuss your needs.
