The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) is the national organisation responsible for implementing the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (the National Scheme) across Australia.

Their purpose is to promote harmonious, productive, cooperative and compliant workplace relations in Australia.

NSW Health provides resources relevant to general practitioners, general practice and other clinicians. This includes immunisation, public health information on infectious diseases (including COVID), and many other useful links and updates.

Services Australia is the government organisation which links practices to all Federal government initiatives and incentives. This includes; PRODA, digital health resources, Medicare and many other important updates and resources. All practices and practice managers should have a PRODA account. The Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) is the peak body and professional membership association for all nurses working outside of a hospital setting in Australia.

The Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) is a key component of the Medicare system. It lists a range of professional services, and allocates a unique item number to each service, along with a description of the service (the 'descriptor'). In broad terms, the types of services on the MBS include consultation and procedural / therapeutic (including surgical) services, as well as diagnostic services.
