Applications now open - APNA Festival of Nursing attendance scholarships
20 May 2026
To acknowledge the important contribution of nurses in primary care, COORDINARE – South Eastern NSW PHN is providing scholarships for nurses to attend the 2026 APNA Festival of Nursing in Melbourne, taking place from Thursday, 30 July to Saturday, 1 August 2026.
These scholarships are open to AHPRA‑registered practice nurses working in general practices across South Eastern NSW.
The Festival of Nursing is a three‑day national conference designed for nurses by nurses, combining practical learning, professional development and opportunities to connect with colleagues from across Australia. In 2026 the event will be bolder and more practical than ever, focusing on delivering the continuing professional development (CPD) that nurses need to thrive in primary health care.
Over three days of interactive sessions, workshops and keynote presentations, attendees will have the opportunity to:
-
deepen clinical knowledge in areas such as wound management, chronic conditions, immunisation across the lifetime, and mental health
-
participate in skills‑based workshops on topics like CPR, ECG interpretation and leadership development
-
hear future‑focused insights from leaders on key trends including RN prescribing and the role of artificial intelligence in health care
-
build connections with peers, mentors and expert speakers through networking and social sessions.
Previous COORDINARE scholarship recipients have highlighted the value of attending the Festival. Kathryn, practice nurse at Bomaderry Creek Health Centre, emphasised the importance of continuous learning in primary care, saying, “In a field that is constantly changing, it’s important to stay up to date with current and best practice.” She also noted the value of connection across the profession.
For Miranda, practice nurse at Bradfordville Family Medical Centre, the hands‑on learning opportunities had a direct and practical impact. “As we provide iron infusions in-clinic, I was able to attend an IV cannulation workshop that was highly relevant to my day‑to‑day work,” she said, noting that she would “absolutely love the opportunity to attend again.”
Recipients consistently describe the Festival as an invaluable opportunity to exchange ideas, foster meaningful connections, build confidence, and deliver improvements to local patient care.
Scholarship funding will cover conference registration, accommodation and travel expenses.
