Queanbeyan-based GP, Dr Billie Rajabali has been appointed Medical Director for the Southern NSW region with COORDINARE – South Eastern NSW PHN.

Dr Rajabali brings a wealth of experience and a passion for community health to her new role. Her journey in the medical field began in Emergency Medicine after graduating from the University of Queensland. However, she discovered her true calling in General Practice, inspired by her experiences working alongside dedicated GPs in remote areas of Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

Prue Buist, CEO of COORDINARE said, "We're delighted to have Billie join our team, having worked together in her capacity as a GP Liaison Officer for Palliative Care with Southern NSW Local Health District.

"Her expertise and dedication to women's, preventative, and community health will undoubtedly enhance our organisation's direction and strategy. As a member of the Executive, she will provide invaluable expert advice on workforce planning, HealthPathways, and primary care development in Southern NSW."

Dr Rajabali's diverse background includes working in various medical settings, from large tertiary hospitals to small regional and remote practices across Australia. In addition, her previous experience as a Medical Director working with culturally and linguistically diverse groups showcases her exceptional leadership in fostering inclusive and culturally sensitive healthcare environments. This breadth of experience has given her a unique perspective on healthcare delivery and the importance of accessible and quality primary care.

As a strong advocate for community well-being, Dr Rajabali holds a Masters in Public Health from the University of New South Wales. Her commitment to continuous learning and professional development aligns perfectly with COORDINARE's mission to improve healthcare outcomes for the communities it serves.

Dr Rajabali will work alongside Dr Katherine Michelmore, COORDINARE's Medical Director for Illawarra Shoalhaven.

"I'm delighted to join the team at COORDINARE and look forward to contributing my skills and experience to the role and supporting the further development of primary care in the region," said Dr Rajabali.
