Facilitated by Phoenix Australia, a not-for-profit Centre of Excellence, affiliated with the Department of Psychiatry University of Melbourne, this free workshop runs from 9-5pm.

Phoenix Australia has expertise in a range of approaches for the management of exposure to trauma and occupational stress. Including peer support programs, psychological first aid, trauma informed care, post traumatic mental health treatment, and staff wellbeing and resilience programs including the management of vicarious trauma.

It assumes no, or minimal, mental health skills training and does not require a previous qualification. Content includes:

  • the principles of trauma informed care
  • implementing TIC at work
  • recognising trauma related behaviours, symptoms and disorders
  • creating safe environments
  • stabilising strategies
  • building resilience
  • TIC self-care.

Target audience: Free training open to all staff that work in a primary care setting (GPs, Practice Nurses, Practice Managers, Practice Admin) within SE NSW PHN or one of our commissioned providers.
